PLC Software Engineer | Permanent | Up to £60,000 per annum | Yorkshire area (on-site)

Peaple Talent have partnered with a client in the North of England looking to recruit a PLC Software Engineer.

This is a full-time permanent role, that requires you to be on-site 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and testing automation software for PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems, primarily using platforms like Siemens.
  • Involved in designing and deploying industrial networks utilizing standard communication protocols such as MODBUS and OPC.
  • Created comprehensive technical documentation including I/O schedules, functional design specifications (FDS), system design inputs (SDI), system design specifications (SDS), and testing protocols for both Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring technologies.
  • Participate in system commissioning at client sites. Willingness to travel.
  • Offer technical input and support across multiple departments including sales, proposals, project planning, and design – this includes assistance with simulations, cost estimation, and selecting appropriate hardware and software solutions.

Key Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in developing and testing PLC and HMI/SCADA software, with a strong focus on Siemens and Allen Bradley/Rockwell platforms.
  • Ability to provide technical support across multidisciplinary teams, including sales, proposals, design, and project delivery. Should be comfortable contributing to tasks such as system simulations, estimating, and hardware/software selection.
  • Solid understanding of industrial network design, with hands-on experience implementing protocols such as MODBUS and OPC.
  • Willingness to undertake commissioning work at customer sites, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Proficient in preparing detailed engineering documentation, including I/O lists, FDS and many more.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring systems.
