Business Development Manager | Surrey | Up to £60,000 p.a + bonuses + company car
Peaple Talent have partnered with a smart-building solutions company looking to recruit a Business Development Manager.
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join their team in the South East region. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused professional with a strong background in business development, ideally within Building Management Systems (BMS) or a related industry.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic relationships, and promoting our client’s full range of products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within the Midlands region
- Analyse customer databases and market segments to effectively target prospective clients in both the short and long term
- Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline, ensuring consistent business growth
- Prepare, generate, and deliver high-quality proposals and presentations to customers
- Arrange and attend meetings with existing and potential clients to promote the company’s product and service offering
- Organise and deliver roadshows, events, and product demonstrations
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to maximise opportunities across both regional and national accounts
- Support the preparation and submission of tenders, bids, and national proposals
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitors, and industry developments
- Accurately report on sales activity, forecasts, and performance metrics
Key Experience Required:
- Proven track record in a Business Development Manager or similar role
- Experience within Building Management Systems (BMS) or a related technical/engineering sector is highly desirable
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert opportunities into revenue
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering compelling sales presentations and proposals
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to analyse data and translate insights into actionable sales strategies
- Experience working with tenders, bids, and large-scale proposals
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven approach
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Full UK driving licence
