Lead Manufacturing Engineer

A well-established and forward-thinking company is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to drive improvements in quality, cost efficiency, and production processes within a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.

This hands-on role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, working closely with both production and engineering teams to implement effective solutions that deliver measurable business benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas for quality improvement and develop cost-effective solutions while maintaining key quality objectives.
  • Review processes and products to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage the delivery of cost-reduction plans.
  • Drive efficiency improvements, focusing on process enhancements and reducing setup times in the machine shop.
  • Act as the first point of contact for production issues, coordinating with relevant departments to resolve problems.
  • Support the resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Reduce waste by eliminating unnecessary activities, minimising material scrap, and enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Improve first-time pass rates for end-of-line product testing and reduce time spent on rework.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in product-level and business-level gross margins.
  • Enhance on-time delivery performance.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in manufacturing engineering within a production environment.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to engage with teams at all levels to gain buy-in and drive change.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach to implementing solutions.
  • Understanding of quality, cost control, and efficiency optimisation in manufacturing.
