Mitie, BookingLive & Luceat

The next TekCurious meetup is here! This time we have three amazing speakers lined up for you from Mitie, Booking Live and Sarah Morgan previously of Yahoo & ASOS. We will be providing refreshments & pizza with an opportunity for networking and further discussion afterwards, AMDARIS are kindly hosting the event for us at their amazing office space in the centre of Bristol. This event is for Senior Technologists within the South West.

Our Speakers will be covering the below.

Cijo Jospeh | Chief Information Officer (CIO) | Mitie

Cijo Joseph is the CIO of Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management and professional services company. Cijo is leading the organisation through a period of significant Technology transformation, from application rationalisation, cloud migration to repositioning themselves as a technology leader within their sectors through the use of IoT and Artificial Intelligence.

Cijo is going to share with you the story so far of the challenges he has faced taking a multi-billion organisation through this period of change and the lessons he has learned. Alongside sharing how they are leading technology innovation within a very competitive market place that is Facilities Management.

Andy Gale | Chief Technology Officer (CTO) | Booking Live

Booking Live has been an incredible success story growing from Bristol to a global customer base in a short period. Created to fill the need of a single customer the platform has seen many iterations and over the years has grown to an incredibly fully-featured product used by multi-national companies such as Microsoft, Virgin, Dyson and many central, local and non-governmental organisations like Transport For London.

As we grew, we overcame many hurdles, including moving our hosting into the cloud, the requirement for automated testing and automating our deployments. BookingLive created a new lightweight platform called Connect, which you used to book onto this event, aimed at SMEs, and has immediately attracted 800+ businesses from 52+ countries. The launch of our Connect product in itself has created an interesting challenge as to how we best utilise our technical team across these two platforms. In our talk, we’ll cover some of the decisions we made, how we overcame pain points and our plans to further increase developer productivity by changing our approach to developing our products.

Sarah Morgan | Global IT Service & Engineering Director | Yahoo & ASOS Sarah talks us through the reinvention in her career, as she moved from Technology Delivery into Customer Operations & Service and now on to setting up her own business as an Executive and Leadership Coach, specialising in Imposter Syndrome and empowering Senior Leaders to silence their inner critic.

Sarah has 25 years of experience as a leader and a coach in a wide range of industries that she now brings into a coaching context to help you thrive and shine at work. She led Global IT & Service teams at ASOS and Yahoo!, enabling massive growth while maintaining employee engagement. She drove transformation projects at Ovo Energy and Good Energy; enabling more efficient and fulfilling operational processes while significantly improving employee engagement.

About the event

TekCurious is designed to promote and share the fantastic tech scene within the South West and Wales region. There are a lot of events that happen in around Bristol especially from a tech perspective, but there are few that are aimed at Tech leadership that is free to attend and do NOT have a sales pitch attached

The environment that we create at our meetup is informal and a chance to network with your peer group from a diverse range of sectors but who all have a passion for technology.

We aim to provide speakers that can share their experiences, lessons learned and stories from their technology career that will provide some thought-provoking discussion.

We hope to see you soon!
