Data Engineer (Talend Specialist) Full Time

Talend Specialist (Data Engineer) | Bristol | Permanent | Up to £40,000

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a data engineer – talend specialist.

The successful candidate will perform ETL/ELT development using AWS hosted Talend Open Studio and SQL Server toolsets.

This roll will involve providing support and thought-leadership for best practices to move and transform data into an evolving data warehouse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the incumbent data warehouse team to deliver a data platform that supports the specific agenda of major projects alongside the existing data warehouse in a robust and timely manner.
• Working as part of the data engineering team in close collaboration with the business, particularly finance and our clients reporting & analytics team.
• Taking responsibility and accountability for the collaborative design and build of data solutions that will provide a secure, reliable, and well performing platform for information & analytical purposes.
• Working in collaboration with the overall data architecture, governance, and information security team.
• Working with the project management and business analyst communities to ensure all stages of feasibility, design, and delivery are captured and estimated with agreed milestones.
• Supporting Technical Design Forum (TDF) process and solution architecture team.
• Participating in planning activities, communicating impacts and delays following changes to agreed prioritisation.
• Supporting CAB (Change Advisory Board) process to ensure appropriate governance is followed.

Required Experience:

• Excellent knowledge of MS SQL Server 2012 onward, including SSIS package design.
• Good all round and hands om BI knowledge and skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Talend Open Solutions.
• Good business acumen (including good understanding of internal and external markets and best practice) and strong commercial and financial awareness.
• Demonstrable knowledge of various data storage paradigms including, but not limited to: Kimball, Data Vault 2.0, Data Lake, Data Lakehouse.
• Experience of utilising an ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) desirable (e.g. Mulesoft ESB).
• Experience with multiple ETL/ELT tools, including cloud specific technologies (e.g. SSIS, DataBricks, Talend, Matilion, AWS Glue) desirable.
